What is DMOZ?

Posted 2011-04-24 in SEO FAQ

The DMOZ Open Directory Project is one of the oldest and largest human-edited online directories.

The Open Directory Project (ODP) at dmoz.org has tens of thousands of listings, but has a rather bumpy history. Some categories remain unedited for years while others are still actively updated and edited. Getting listed in DMOZ can take a very long time and is often impossible.

Submit it and forget it.

The best general rule of thumb for DMOZ is to submit your site and forget about it. You can check periodically to see if you have been accepted, but once you have submitted your site the decision is out of your hands and there is no process to get a listing approval status.
