Generally speaking, we assign version numbers to scripts in the format MajorVersion.MinorVersion.
For example, if our first version is "Gizmo Script 1.0", there will probably be minor updates such as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3b1, and so on. Notice the "1.3b1"? Sometimes we'll release a small "patch" update such as 1.3b2, 1.4p1, etc. The final number represents the "patch level", or the number of patches released for the current minor version. The major... It's common to have many small updates that don't significantly change the software itself. But sometimes there is a major rewrite or significant upgrade, and we will no longer fully support the older version.
A version is considered officially outdated when it's major version number changes. However, we strongly recommend upgrading to all new versions to remain secure and get the latest features. |
